JESSIE S. ROBINSON (nee YOUNG) Peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 30, 2000, Jessie Robinson passed away. Jessie will be lovingly remembered by Bill, her husband of 58 years; daughter Lesley (Lynn) Bishop; grandchildren, Kirsten, Sean and Ainsley; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Ian and her sister May. Survivors also include sisters-in-law, Emma and Bunny; brothers-in-law, Bill, Ernie and Tom, as well as nieces and nephews. Special mention must also be made of long time and dear friends Margaret, Florence and Audrey. Jessie was predeceased by her twin sister Louisa and brother Edward. Born December 14, 1921 in Glasgow Scotland, Jessie immigrated to Canada in 1925 with her mother and sister Louisa. She attended Anna Gibson and Lord Selkirk schools in Elmwood and excelled in speed skating. Along with being a loving and devoted homemaker and mother, Jessie worked a number of years for the Belgium Stores, Lee Kepron Fashions and Lynn Dawn Flowers. Later in her working career, Jessie chose to undertake additional training and development following which she spent several years with the Provincial Department of Highways and Transportation. In the early 1960s Jessie and Bill chose to build a lakeside cottage on Traverse Bay. Among the first in a then newly developing area and along with its grounds and her flowers, the cottage remained a very special and treasured part of Jessies life. It was here that she derived so much joy and pleasure in the company of her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. In accordance with Jessies wishes, no formal service will be held and cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the home of Lesley and Lynn at 47 Crawford Ave. from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at which time a celebration of Jessies life will take place. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a donation in Jessies memory to the Osteoporosis Society of Canada, Manitoba Chapter or the Childrens Hospital Research Foundation. P. COUTU & CO.
